Kemal Okten

Before pixels and wireframes, ten year old Kemal was busy experimenting with real wires and fuses and nearly electrocuted himself. When that didn’t work out, he built an overpriced ashtray empire and spent all his earnings on ice cream. He has been chasing that same creative high ever since, now with fewer shocks and more strategy.

HEMP POS;
MADE SIMPLE

We've all dealt with tricky Hemp POS systems in stores. Some work okay, some barely work. But we all know they're confusing to navigate, like a maze. In this project, my objective was to transform a POS system into a user-friendly product, reducing the learning curve for all and preventing errors typically made by new hires.

BEFORE:

Overal Interface:  Pretty generic old fashioned POS interface. Layout design is all over the place, very small buttons and poor contrast.

AFTER:

LEGALITYIn the legal industry there are strict rules such as not exceeding 30 grams purchase limit, let’s look at how this current system does it.

BEFORE:

WHAT CHANGED?Visibility of Limit Exceedance: The current interface lacks clear visibility regarding whether the limit is being exceeded until the warning appears.

Checkout Disablement for New Hires: Current interface allows you to bypass the warning by simply clicking yes.

AFTER:

QUANTITYThe current interface is unnecessarily complicating employees' tasks. It lacks a simple feature that allows adjusting the quantity of items with just a click. Instead, users are required to pre-determine the quantity before adding products to the checkout. If they need to modify the quantity afterwards, they are forced to remove the product entirely and then reselect the desired number—an inefficient and frustrating process.

BEFORE:

WHAT CHANGED?Quantity adjustment:  Integrating quantity buttons directly onto the product card within the checkout interface. Users can effortlessly click on these buttons to adjust the quantity or input the desired number manually. This intuitive design eliminates the need for cumbersome processes like removing and reselecting products, enhancing efficiency and user experience.

EMPLOYEE STATS  / SALESThe current system lacks transparency, preventing employees from seeing their live stats, such as sales, store averages, and tips. These elements are essential for employees and can significantly increase productivity.
